Continuing Education
Continuing Education: Seminars & Short Courses
One of the main focus points of the Institute of Ranch Management is to meet the continuing education needs of the ranching community and industry professionals. Each year, the Institute hosts various workshops, seminars, short courses, and symposiums in order to address specific needs of our participants.
Experts have estimated that agricultural technology doubles every five years, and this is probably a conservative estimate by today´s standards. To put it simply, ranching operations that do not adapt to and keep up with today´s technology-driven, business-like mentality will be or have been left behind. The Institute provides continuing educational programs that offer networking among our alumni and other industry participants, and that broaden the general knowledge of participants regarding new technologies, information, or business strategies that are constantly changing in our industry.
In the same tradition of the Ranch Management Program, the Institute of Ranch Management always tries to emphasize applied approaches to promote effective and efficient management principles and practices in the ranching business. Each Institute-based program varies in depth and length, but each is designed for groups of participants who share in and have an economical interest in managing ranch resources.
The Institute operates on a fee-for-service basis that varies according to the programs presented, location, and the Instructional needs of each program. Fees charged are to recover direct costs of each program. We are not a research or extension branch of TCU, nor do we intend to compete with or distract from other entities involved in these areas.
Typically, the Institute of Ranch Management plans and organizes 10 or more continuing education opportunities per year. Current information on up-coming events can be found on our news page. If you would like more information or want to be put on our mailing list for upcoming plans, please contact Jeff Geider at (817) 257 - 7145 or j.geider@tcu.edu.
